Guided Fly Fishing Days

If you have ever wanted to experience salmon fishing in Scotland but lack the skills, gear, or contacts, let us assist you. We specialize in guided fly fishing days, where we will book the fishing for you, supply the necessary gear, and provide professional fly fishing instruction from a guide. They will spend the day helping you improve your casting skills, teaching you how to fish the beat, and doing everything possible to help you catch a fish or two.

Don’t have transport? No problem! Our guide can pick you up from your hotel and drop you off at the end of the day. An additional fee may apply depending on the distance and duration of travel.

In most cases, when you book a guided fly fishing day with us, we can provide waders, boots, fly rods, reels, and lines at no extra charge, subject to availability and requirements.

All gear is of the highest quality, featuring Sage fly rods, RIO fly lines, and Vision waders as our preferred tackle.

Where We Guide

Newtlye Beat, River Tay

The Newtyle beat, featuring 2 miles (3.2 km) of prime double bank fishing on the middle River Tay, is situated just downstream of the charming village of Dunkeld. This exceptional location is perfect for salmon fishing in Scotland, producing fish consistently from the season's opening in January through to its closure in October. With only 12 miles to the tide, anglers can expect to catch fresh running salmon with sea lice throughout the season.

On average, the beat yields about 116 salmon annually over its 16 named pools, which offer ideal holding areas for salmon during various water levels. For those interested in fly fishing instruction, the beat boasts fantastic, classic salmon pools that are perfect for guided fly fishing days, providing easy wading in most areas. Even during higher water levels, very little wading is required.

Kinkell Bridge Beat, River Earn

Kinkell Bridge is situated on the beautiful, small river known as the Earn, making it an excellent spot for salmon fishing in Scotland. Here, anglers can fish for all four native UK game fish: salmon, sea trout, brown trout, and grayling. As a small river, it is perfect for those seeking more intimate, personal waters, ideally suited for lightweight rods and lines, making it a great choice for guided fly fishing days or fly fishing instruction.

The beat features 32 named pools, offering an exceptional variety of fly water. It is divided into Upper and Lower sections, with 16 pools in each, accommodating 8 rods on a rotational basis—4 rods per beat, switching sections at lunchtime.

With excellent vehicular access to much of the beat, there is no need to walk long distances to the pools, making it particularly suitable for elderly or less active fishers.

Benchil Beat, River Tay

The beat is situated about five miles from the upper reaches of the tidal water in Perth, making it an excellent location for salmon fishing in Scotland. During spring, when water temperatures are lower, salmon tend to make their first stop in these waters due to the increased gradient and faster streams that slow the fish down. In summer and autumn, it transforms into a fly fisher’s paradise with beautiful streams and glides, perfect for those seeking fly fishing instruction or guided fly fishing days.

Benchil, located just below the village of Stanley, is one of the most attractive and picturesque beats on the River Tay. This beat, five miles above the tidal reaches, offers a variety of pools ideal for fly fishing, particularly in low water conditions during the summer and early autumn for grilse and larger summer salmon. Additionally, it is an excellent spot for sea trout fishing during May and June.

Benchil

In addition to the local beats we offer, we also provide guided fly fishing days on other rivers such as the Tay, the Tweed, the Spey, and more across Scotland. If you're interested in salmon fishing in Scotland or if there's a specific river where you would like fly fishing instruction, please feel free to reach out to us, and we will do everything we can to make that happen.
